Inspire Sleep Therapy
What is inspire therapy?
Inspire therapy is the first implantable device for treating obstructive sleep apnea. It differs from a CPAP machine since it works from inside the patient’s body and works with their natural breathing. The patient turns on and operates the device via a handheld remote. The remote allows for the patient to deliver a mild stimulation to key airway muscles to help keep them open while they are asleep.

Inspire therapy procedure
The Inspire Therapy system is positioned under the skin and is done in a short surgical procedure. This is usually completed in an outpatient setting under general anesthesia. Following the procedure, patients may return to their regular diets and daily living activities.
Inspire sleep therapy has been clinically proven to help reduce sleep apnea events. From this procedure, patients have a high level of satisfaction and adhere to the therapy treatment.
Inspire Therapy Costs
Most insurance companies cover this procedure but some will only approve the therapy based on medical necessity. Patients can typically expect to pay the cost of any unmet deductible for the year, as well as any required copay/coinsurance fee for the procedure. Dr. Cilento will work with you to determine what costs will be covered by your insurance.
